1988 Fender Jazz Bass JB-62
Jazz Bass JB-62 MIJ
I don’t know exactly what kind of black paint was used to refinish this guitar, but as I began to strip it off I couldn’t stop thinking of Welch’s grape juice. It took several applications of stripper, and a bit of sanding to finally remove the old finish. I refinished it in Fiesta Red nitro lacquer. I also wanted to add the pickup cover, bridge cover and finger rest because I just like the way the Jazz Bass looks that way. The bridge was swapped with a Fender vintage style replacement. Other than that, everything got a good clean-up, including the wiring and I ended up with a pretty nice bass.
SELLER (Southside Guitars): This is a great playing early reissue ’62 Jazz Bass, made in Japan in 1988. The body was refinished black – very amateur job (It looks better in the pics). Despite the wear and the refin the bass is in very good playing condition and sounds great.
MIKE & MIKE’S 1990 JB-62: An early Fender Japan model, this rare “Made in Japan” Jazz Bass was produced at the famed Fujigen factory. Made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this Jazz Bass has a great range of vintage tones and is a model rarely seen outside its country of origin.
